Big Shot Pennant Banner

Hello Stampers and thanks for checking out my second post of the day! As I mention before I participated in a swap with other demonstrators this morning. The only requirements for this swap was to make a 3D project using our Big Shot. Anything but a card is acceptable for this swap!

I always tend to stress a little bit when I'm in a 3D swap. I wonder, what are the other demos doing? Will the other demos like my project? Do I like my project? You know just the normal everyday worries right? :o)

Well when I signed up for this swap I had two ideas in mind. The first idea was to do a pennant flag that said Love. I started to work on that idea and it wasn't looking very well, so . . . that idea got scrapped and I started on my back up idea. A fabric banner using the Pennant Die! Which created the biggest question of all . . . What should it say?

I thought about doing a LOVE banner, like the one I have shown HERE! Then I decided that Valentine's day was just to close for the other demos to use it for very many events. Who wants a love banner in March or April?

My next thought was to do a banner for St. Patrick's day. Should I put luck or lucky? I knew St. Patrick's day was just to long to try, so I decided to much stress there and I would moved onto the next idea . . . a banner that they can use year round!!!

I'll do each demonstrator's first name! But what if they didn't like it? Would it just end up in the trash, because they couldn't think of anyone with the same name that would enjoy the fabric banner?

SO. . . I finally decided to just do the word STAMP! Everyone likes to stamp right? I thought they could hang it in their stamp room, or where ever they may hold their make and take classes at. I also thought it could be passed to other members in their downline if they want to display it at one of their events.

So I had my mind made up! and off to JoAnn's on my lunch break I went! . . . then I encounter my next problem??? What color/fabric should I use??? I'm a pink person, so I thought about using pink. But then I thought surely not every demo in our swap liked pink, so maybe I should do blue or green or red. I found some orange that almost won, because it looked like Tangerine Tango. At least I think it did, but I didn't have my catalog or a card sample with me to compare the colors so I didn't get that color either.

Then my shopping cart took me to the Holiday clearance fabric. . . would any of this work? Of course not. :o( Although I almost got some Halloween fabric to make another spooky banner.

FINALLY . . . (after 1/2 hour) I found the fabric! The heaven open, angels sang and the sun started to shine. . . OK. . maybe that all didn't happen, but I was excited I found one I thought the majority of the demos would like. It was purple with stars. I thought to myself this would go perfect in my stamp room and it was subtle enough I hoped it would work with everyone stamping space. :o)

So when I got home I started to work on cutting out all of the supplies. There were 11 demonstrators signed up for the swap, so I knew I had a lot of cutting to do before I was done.

As I was just getting ready to start cutting on my dinning room table I remembered the other night when I was in the basement I saw a fabric cutting board/pad/mat (or whatever it's called) in the spare room downstairs. So I ran down to get it and got busy cutting. After all it was Wednesday night and I was swapping the banners on Saturday!!!

As I mentioned 11 demonstrators participated so I had to cut out 55 Pennant dies! Of course I only had to make 10, but since I knew I couldn't live with myself if I didn't keep one to display I still needed to make 11.

Above is the first stage in my fabric banner! At this point I had cut out 55 pennants and a bunch of scallop circles. It was after midnight, so I quit and went to bed.

The next morning (Thursday) Blake had me up at 6 am so I had time to cut out all of my letters I needed before I went to work.

Remember I decided to do STAMP, so I cut out 55 letters. As you can see from the photo below I also cut out small scallop circles too. . . . 242 circles to be exact!

After work on Thursday you might recall that the other demonstrators came over to cut card stock for the bash. Since I was keeping it a surprise I had to pick up everything, hide the fabric and set out my tables to cut card stock on.

After the demos left and I ate supper (Steak & Shake. . thanks Rocky) and I start to glue the banners together. Thursday night ended up being another up past Midnight night working on my swaps, but I was making headway! Before I went to bed I had 6 banners glue together and spread out on the tables to dry!

Friday morning my wonderful husband had made a 7:30 am appointment for me to take our 2 dogs to Alpha to visit Dr. Pat for their annual shots, so it was another early morning up at 6:15. Dr. Pat had us in and out and we were home by 8am. He Rocks!

While Blake watched his cartoons I was able to glue together my final 5 pennant banners! Whew . . one more thing off of my to do list!

By now I'm sure your either thinking OK lady show me the darn photo, or you've already quit reading and scrolled to the bottom to look. Either way I'm just happy you stopped by today to check out my blog, and sorry about the long post. I worked really hard on this banner and I thought it would be fun for you to read all of the things I thought about before I made this 3D project.

Fabric, Fabric Glue, Big Shot, Pennant Die, Serif Alphabet, Scallop Circle #2, Standard and Extended Cutting Pads And a REALLY GOOD ARM to keep cranking out supplies for 11 fabric banners! :o)

Wondering how much fabric it takes to make a banner? I purchased 4 yards of the dark purple fabric and 2 yards of the light purple and that made 11 Banners. I have some scraps of the dark purple left over and about 1/2-3/4 yard of light purple.

Movers & Shapers Curly Label Bigz XL Die

Hello Stampers!

Today is going to be a double post. Why you ask? Well I want to share with you my Big Shot 3D swap, but I want those demonstrators who are attending the StampAttic's meeting and receiving the swap this morning to be surprised when they see it. I'm not sure if any of them check my blog out, but just in case I'll wait. :o)

OK . . for my first post I want to show you more about the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Bigz XL Die for the Big Shot. My new stuff just came and I had a chance to play a little on my lunch break on Friday. There just have not been enough hours to play in the day, but I hope that will change soon.

First here is a picture of my new goodies. I got the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Bigz XL Die, Lots of Tags 4-pack Sizzlits, Background #1 Texturz Plates, Impressions Pad, Silicone Rubber, all of the new ribbons, Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons, Best Ever Simply Scrappin' Kit (Keep watching my blog for a b-day card stamp a stack in March using this kit!),Clear Rhinestone brads and A Little Somethin' Level 2 Hostess set. I'm sure there is more, but I just can't recall what else I ordered off of the top of my head. :o)

I got the Movers & Shapers Curly Label die, because I just knew I wanted to recreate the card shown on page 195 of the catalog. . . and guess what??? I did! :o)

Before I share with you my version of the card I want to show you an actual picture of the die. By looking in the catalog I just couldn't picture what it would look like, and how the movable piece actually worked. Well after I opened the package I knew right away how it worked.

The movable piece has magnets on the back, so you can move it were you want it to be. How great is that!!!

So here is my version of SU's Card. I didn't have all of the supplies they used, but I made due with what I had on hand. You can see SU's card HERE if you want to compare the two. The main change I made was I used a Clear Rhinestone Brad in the middle of the flower. Besides that everything was pretty much the same. Colors used are Old Olive and Bashful Blue. don't you just love the new stripped Old Olive Ribbon? I wish SU had every color in stripped ribbon.

Here is another photo, so you can see how the card stands up! If you are a card club member you can bet you'll be making this card in February! Not sure of the color yet! :o)

I have been so busy getting ready for the new catalog bash. Last night I had a house full of ladies that were here to cut card stock for the bash. Just Buzzin' By!

Hello Stampers!

When I first saw the stamp set Just Buzzin' By I knew I had to get it. . . why you ask? Well because I a member of the GlitterBees. I think you get the idea!

I often go online to find inspiration to make cards, and when I'm in a hurry I often CASE the cards I see. Well this week as been so busy that I definitely had to CASE a card to show you.

Do you recall what CASE stands for? Create And Share Everything . . and thank goodness for that. I cased Tashanlundy's card she posted online. However, I made a card very similar to the card below this past summer. I used the stamp set Pun Fun and double layered the squares. . . does this ring a bell to anyone? That card was a CASE card too, so maybe we were both inspired by the original creator? Who knows.

Anyway . . onto the sample!!!

I used More Mustard card stock and stamped the images with More Mustard classic ink. I used my White gel pen to outline the images and use my More Mustard marker to color on some of the hive. The bees were stamped in Basic Black classic ink and colored in with my More Mustard marker and Blush Blossom marker.

If you look close below you will see I added glitter to the bees wings. . . after all I am a GlitterBee! ;o)

In this photo above you can also see I used the Spiral punch to punch on the Basic Black card stock and before I stuck everything together I used my More Mustard ink pad and applied ink directly onto the Whisper White card stock.

As you read the above descriptions you might have noticed that I mention I used the Classic Ink Pads. I often get asked what's the difference between Classic and Craft ink pads. . . . so here's the scoop!

Classic Stampin’ Pads are dye based ink that are water soluble. Dye inks are transparent and absorb into the paper. They also dry quickly on all types of paper making them easier to work with. Dye inks are not waterproof and the colors will bleed if they get wet. Dye inks are safe for scrapbooks, but will fade over time.

Craft Stampin’ Pads are pigment based ink, which is a dry powdery agent that uses a binding agent to help it adhere to paper. Craft pads contain natural binding agents that are safe for use in scrapbooks. Craft ink sits on top of the paper and does not absorb, so they take longer to dry and are a good choice to use as an embossing ink. Craft ink is often preferred for scrapbooking because pigment inks are more resistant to fading than most dye inks.

All this being said, I prefer to use the Classic Ink for most of my stamping. I have used them almost exclusively since I started to stamp and scrapbook and have not noticed any fading. I love that they dry almost instantly, I don’t want to have to wait for my ink to dry before I can finish my projects. I do use the Craft Inks and for certain projects they are the best choice. I love stamping a light color on a dark card stock. And I love using them with clear embossing powder.

The Craft Stampin' Spots are a GREAT choice if you don't use the pigment ink as often as the dye ink. You should try both to see which is right for you.

Just Buzzin' By Frame Art!

Hello Stampers!

Today I want to share with you a little piece of frame art that I had the pleasure of making back in December. It was designed by Julie, who is my 5 level up Upline! Thanks Julie I had so much fun making it.

The stamp set used is a new in the Spring/Summer Catalog and is called Just Buzzin' By (113228 $27.95). BTW - ALL stamp sets in the current catalog are DIE CUT!! Just pop and stick and you're ready to stamp!

Just Buzzin' By is a fun stamp set to watercolor. First I stamped the images using Basic Black ink onto my Water Color paper. Then I squeezed the classic ink pad to get a "puddle" of ink on the lid and used my aqua painters to water color the images.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I was blessed to have a lot of family time and I am always grateful when I do get to spend time with my family. Blake's potty training is going wonderful and we have been to the store to purchase new undies for him! Rocky is doing well too. Last night Rocky and I played volleyball over in Knoxville, and I am so sore as I sit here and type this. It's a good sore, but sore none the less. :o)

Before I went to bed last night I finished a project I started when my friend Julie was over on Saturday morning stamping! I used the stamp set and punch from the Love You Much bundle.

A Busy Day & Home Sign

Hello Stampers,

Saturday was a very busy and productive day for me. How about you? The first thing I did when Blake woke me up at 6:30 am was take him to the bathroom to pee. Yes that's right Blake has started potty training on Thursday, and I'm so excited. He is doing great!

After we made our way downstairs I started to clean up my stamp desk, because I had a friend coming over to stamp. (Hi Julie!) Remember how nice my new stamp desk looked when I first showed it to you? Well from the looks of this photo below you can tell I have been using my desk. :o) I have good news to report that I got most of it picked up! I thought I sneak in a photo of my mess. Not much room to stamp.

After cleaned my desk off I started to stamp. A few months ago I found a really cool idea online that I just knew I wanted to try it.

I started by using the Neighborhood Jumbo Wheel and coloring in a few houses. As you can see from the photo below I used my markers to color the houses and then I cut them out.

My next step was to cut out letters using my Big Shot, Chocolate Chip card stock and Serif Essentials Alphabet Bigz Dies.

Are you wondering what the circles are? They are 4" circle coasters covered in Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. I used my sanding blocks to smooth and "weather" the edge a bit.

If you look close you'll see I used my Crop-a-Dile and Jumbo Pewter Eyelets then tied Chocolate Chip Ribbon through each one.

I haven't decided where I'm going to hang this yet. Any suggestions?

Botanical Blooms

Happy Saturday Stampers!

I'm so excited that you decided to visit my blog today, and I have a couple of photos to share with you today. This first photo was a snap shot of my Hostess Appreciation Night, which was last night. I held a special event for all of my 2008 hostesses. If you would like to attend next year's event, all you have to do is call or e-mail me to schedule your 2009 workshop and you'll be put on the list!

If you look close in the photo you can see the decor element on my wall. It's called Long-Stem Silhouette. Did you know that there is an image in Stampin' Up!'s Pocket Silhouette Stamp Set to match?

I had a big batch of Chili on the stove and after we ate the stamping began.

My 2008 hostess are VIPs and besides going home with door prizes and little goodies bags each lady got to make 2 projects. They even got to use my new Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Botanical Blooms to make the card shown above.

As I mention before Sale-a-Bration starts on February 1st and runs until March 31st. I'd love for you to be a Sale-a-Bration hostess. My month of February is filling up fast, call or e-mail me soon to book your party!

Colors used are: Whisper White, Rose Red and Chocolate Chip. The Chocolate Chip card stock was cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and ran through the Big Shot using the Top Note Die. After stamping the images and assembling the card front the card stock was adhered to Whisper White card stock, which was cut at 3 x 8 and folded in half.

Besides food and stamping there was fun. At least I hope everyone had a nice time. Sorry it got loud when Blake tried to play the "drums" with two bone folders. I guess that just another use for a bone folder. :o)

I'd like to say a very special thank you to the ladies who were able to stay and play games. I had the most fun watching Sarah draw Hodgepodge Hardware. Very creative!

Dorman List

Hello Stampers!

With every catalog there are stamps sets that do not retire, yet they are not in the current catalog. When that happens they are move to the dorman list! The Dormant List contains stamp sets that, while they have not been retired, are not listed in the current catalog. These sets are available for purchase during the listed timeframe and may or may not be listed again in future catalogs. You can view the current dormant list HERE and I will keep a link on the right side of this page for easy referrance.

Q/A

Can I still order the stamp set on the dormant list?

YES!

Will these stamp sets appear in the next publication?

Maybe. We never know what is going to be moved back into the next catalog, what will stay on the dormant list and what stamp sets will move to the retired list until it is announced.

Why have a dormant list?

Stampin' Up! has a dormant list to allow stamp sets, which are not in "season" to still be ordered and at the same time frees up space in the current catalog for new stamps! For example. You won't find many Christmas stamp sets in the current catalog as you will in the Fall/Winter catalog. This is simply because the demand for those stamps is not there. SU moves stamps to the dormant list so you can still purchase them should you choose, so yes you can have Christmas in July! :o)

Big Shot - Movers & Shapers Curly Label

Hello Stampers!

I am waiting for my 1st order from the new catalog to arrive, but I couldn't wait any longer to share with you the new Big Shot die I ordered. I got the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Bigz Die and I am so very excited! This die was designed to coordinate with the Curly Label punch Bundle, which I just added to my collection last month!

Movers & Shapers Curly Label (114506 - $39.95)

Cut and score a card while cutting out a decorative piece from the card front at the same time! The Curly Label die includes a grid on the inside which allows for exact placement of the moveable label piece. This die also coordinates with Curly Label Punch Bundle. You'll need to use a Big Shot machine and extended cutting pads with this die. This die is rule-based die and can cut up to 50 different materials.

Below is a card sample I got from Stampin' Up! I'm planning on having club members make this at our February clubs. They won't have to put a lot of effort into this intricately designed window card. With our Movers & Shapers die and coordinating Curly Label Punch Bundle, we can't go wrong! What do you think? Of course I'm going to alter a bit, so that I can use most of the supplies I have on hand!

2009 Calendar Bookmark

Hello Stampers,


Today I wanted to share with you a very quick and easy bookmark calendar that I stamped for my club members this month.




I printed the 2009 calendar onto whisper white card stock and then cut out each calendar. Next I used Almost Amethyst ink and stamped an image from the stamp set Pocket Silhouettes. Finally I adhered the Whisper White card stock onto Almost Amethyst card stock and the project was done!

Hello Stampers,

As you know yesterday was the 1st day to order from the new Idea Book & Catalog. I'd like to thank everyone who e-mailed me an order yesterday. I placed it and it's in order to be picked. ** Weekend Fun**

You might recall that this past weekend Blake and I went to Disney on Ice. We had lots of fun and I was really happy with how well Blake sat through the 2 hour show. I thought you might like to see a couple of photos. This first photo is of Blake and myself. I borrowed my niece's pixie hat she got that afternoon for the photo. What do you think?

This second photo is of my Sister-in-law Kiri and niece Makenna. The pixie hat looks much better on Makenna than it did on me.

Blake was really excited when the Cars came out. The Disney on Ice program also covered the Little Mermaid, Lion King and Tinker Bell stories. It was a lot of fun.

Scallop Circle Treat!

Good Morning!!

I'm super excited to show you today's project, but I can't take credit for it. Carrie Cudny demonstrated how to make this cute Scallop Circle Treat at Leadership. While I didn't attend leadership to see it for myself I also blog surf almost daily and this is one of the projects I ran across.

So, what do you think? Cute Isn't it?

To make one you'll need the Big Shot Die Cut Machine and the Scallop Circle Bigz Die. You can use anytime of card stock or designer paper (DSP), but I choice to use the Bella Rose DSP. As you can see from the photo below I first cut out my circle using my Big Shot.

Next I placed a little strip of sticky strip along one side.

After doing that I simply wrapped the DSP around into a cone shape.

I tied a bit of Riding Hood Red Stripped Ribbon and attached it with mini glue dots.

This is a perfect size for a small treat. As you can see from the first photo I used a medium size cello bag and placed a small stamp inside and tied it with Hemp Twine. You could also stamp a tag to match if you'd like.

Pocket Silhouettes

Hello Stampers!

If you were a Stampin' Up! hostess for me in 2008 you should have found or will find a similar invitation in your mail box to one of the cards below. As you know I'm holding a special Hostess Appreciation Night for my 2008 hostesses!

Beside food (I plan on having a large pot of chili on the stove and other snacks) there will of course be stamping!!! Don't forget to RSVP so I have enough supplies cut for the make and take projects.

OK . . I'm sure some of you are thinking enough talk already show me the cards! :o)

Both cards were made using the stamp sets Pocket Silhouettes and Sincere Salutations. This first card was made with Baja Breeze and Pacific Point, while the card below was made with Riding Hood Red and Bella Rose Designer Series Paper.

To make these cards I first used my scallop edge punch along the right side and then placed a little card stock or Designer paper under the edge. Then I used the punch from the curly label punch bundle to punch a hole in a piece of scratch paper. Once I had a hole in my scratch paper I placed it over my Whisper White card stock and used a stamping sponge to sponge color. While the scratch paper was still over the white card stock I also stamped a few images from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set.

After removing the scratch paper I stamped the same image in a darker ink. I finished the cards by stamping You're Invited and adding some coordinating ribbon.

In the card above I used Sahara Sand. However, I also made a few in which I replaced Sahara Sand with Pink Pirouette. I had almost 40 cards to make and they went very fast!

Perfect Circles

Hello Stampers!

Today's post is going to be short and sweet. We have a busy day today. Blake and I are going to Disney on Ice, while Rocky hits the boat show in the QCA. Then we are going to meet up for a late lunch. Afterwards Blake is going to be spending the night at his Great Aunt Debbie's house while Rocky and I attend a Harley-Davidson party.

Although we didn't have much time to ride our 2003 Ultra Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary motorcycle this summer we still stayed very active in our local chapter. Before we had Blake we rode a lot! Now it's hard for us to leave him home, so we tend to take the Impala more than the HD.

OK . . onto Stamping!

Stampin’ Up! has announced Phase 3 of their Decor Elements. If you are not familiar with Decor Elements, simply said they are vinyl rub ons for your walls. They are removable, but not reusable. Stampin' Up! manfuctures the Decor Elements at their plant in Riverton, Utah. They are really expanding and will even be getting into custom Decor Elements soon!

Monday I'll put the whole Phase 3 brochure online for you to view. If you would prefer a paper copy send me an e-mail or leave a comment and I'll get one out to you in the mail! For now you'll have to settle for a sneak peak!

As before most of the images come in three sizes, Small, Medium and Large! The catalog has the actual measurements for each image, so you can measure before you order. The picture below shows the new Tree, Thoughs & Prayer and the Direction of Your Dreams images.

Next photo is the Popcorn image. To ensure precise placement when applying Decor Elements to rounded surfaces, trim the transfer sheet so the image has a 1" border and notch the bottom edge at 1/4" intervals. Then start at the middle of the image and rub out!

This next images I’m showing you is my favorite. It’s called Shelf Life! Finally plants that look great and don’t need to be watered! SU also has a cute set of Stemware glasses!
