Lights & Samples

Hello Stampers,

On Thursday night I had the pleasure of road tripping to LaHarpe for a workshop. (Hi Shana!) While my GPS took me all across the countryside on the way there it was a more direct route back. Thank Goodness! On the way home, just outside of Good Hope, I saw a very lite up house. While my camera didn't take a real good picture from a moving car I hope you can get an idea of the spirit of Christmas this people must have.

Speaking of the spirit of Christmas I have a three cards that I just had to share with you. These are photos of cards that were on display at convention, and they all have the same fun theme. What do you think?

I just love the Mrs. Clause card. How about you?

Happy Stamping!

Georgia

p.s.

Don't be surprised if you see convention samples tomorrow too, as I've been looking at the photos I took and there are so many I'd like to share with you.

Hi Georgia,
I think I like both ways of doing the banner.
It would depend on your space and where you are going to put it, but I actually prefer the traditional banner if you have space.
Would love to win the banner pieces!!

Congratulations to Betty and Marty!
Please e-mail me your address (georgia@mustainlindstrom.com), and I'll get your JOY pieces sent right out.

Tara used the stamp set Embrace Life. For ink she used the Jet Black Stazon ink pad. Card Stock was Certainly Celery, Regal Rose and Very Vanilla. And Accessories used are: Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Watercolor Crayons, Aqua Painters, Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen.

Thanks for stopping today!

The Free & The Brave

Hello Stampers!

The holiday season makes me think of all of the solders who will spend the holidays away from their family. While I don't have any family members serving I think it would be nice to take a minute out of our busy day and remember the solders currently serving, the solders who went before them, and the solders who will go behind them. It is truly a job that I could not do. I think it's important to keep not only the solders, but their family members in our prayers this holiday season.

When I flew to Utah this past summer I had the pleasure to be sat beside two young gentleman who are serving our great country. The first guy I had the pleasure to speak with was in the seat beside me on my flight from Moline to O'Hare. He was on leave and on the way to Vegas for a wedding. He was use to flying as he jumped out of them for a living. How exciting would that be?

On my return flight I sat beside another young gentleman who was a mechanic in the Air Force. He seemed very interested in the New Catalog as I flipped through it. He found great humor in the Pun Fun Stamp Set sayings and others similar sets like that. :o)

This guy, as we spoke, was on his way over seas for his 2nd tour. WOW is all I can say. I couldn't do it once let alone twice. As we talked he told me about his younger brother who was also in the process of going into the Air Force. He was very proud of his younger brother who was at basic training to be a pilot, and he was very confident that his brother would succeed in his endeavor.

When I asked him what his job was he said, "I'm just a mechanic." Well let me tell you that almost broke my heart to hear him say the word JUST. I proceeded to tell him that I was coming home from the Stampin' Up! convention, where Shelli had just addressed the word JUST.

Shelli was referring to the demonstrators who thought about themselves as Just Hobbyist. She wants to 100% eliminate the word just, because every single person is important to the company and to her. I told him to say, "I'm a Mechanic!" No JUST!!! Whether he did that the next time I don't know, but I hope he remembers our little talk and feels proud to be a Mechanic.

OK I'm sure you're getting tired of me going on and on, and I want to say THANK YOU for reading this far. I decided to look through my convention swap cards yesterday, since that's were my thought were anyway. I came across two cards that I just have to share with you.

Both of these cards use the stamp set The Free & The Brave (110982 $19.95), which is currently on the dormant stamp set list. What's the dormant list you ask??? Well it's a list of stamp sets that are not retired, but they are not listed in the current catalog either. You can view the complete list on the right side of my blog. . . just click the Dormant List link.

The stamp sets found on the dormant list are still available for purchasing. When the new catalog comes out these stamp sets may find their way into that catalog, stay on the dormant list, or even find their way onto the retired stamp set list. (Speaking of the retired list it will be released on December 9th!)

OK onto samples:

This first sample is a card front I received was from from Sandy Adas while swapping at Convention. Sandy used Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke and Basic Black Card Stock. Ink was Basic Black and Always Artichoke. Accessories included 1/4" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon and the Star Punch. I love how Sandy used the Always Artichoke ink pad to apply ink directly to the base of the card.

The second sample was a swap I received from Traci Gentry. Traci used Real Red, Night of Navy and Kraft Card Stock. She also used Kraft Ink and Real Red classic ink pads. For accessories Traci used the star punch as well as a silver brad.

I think anyone would be proud to receive and/or send a card like this. Good Job Ladies!

Moral of this LONG post. . . Next time you see a solder don't forget to say Thank You! Better yet check out one of these websites to see how you can help: http://www.americasupportsyou.com/ or http://www.redcross.org/email/saf/. :o)

Thanks for blogging with me today!

Joy **Big Shot Banner**

Hello Stampers!

I am very excited about my post today, because I had a chance to play with my Big Shot, Pennant Bigz XL Die and Serif Essentials Bigz Alphabet Die Set. I just love my Big Shot! You may recall early this fall I made a couple of "Spooky" banners with my Big Shot for Halloween. One was made from card stock and the other from fabric.

I really love how the Big Shot cuts through fabric, so when I decided to make a banner for the holiday season I just knew it was going to be a fabric one. While my banner is not 100% finished I couldn't wait any longer to share it with you.

The first photo is an up close shot of the J in JOY. I picked up some holiday fabric at the local craft store to make this project.

The last fabric banner I made was sewn together, so I thought I would try something new and glue this JOY banner. Below you will see my original layout for this banner.

Like I said this JOY banner is not 100% done yet, because I haven't decided which way I want the banner to hang. What do you think? Do you like the photo above or below better? The "traditional" layout above would be perfect for a small doorway or window, while the JOY banner below would be perfect to hang on a door or on the wall.

While I was making my JOY banner at home I thought it would be the perfect BLOG Candy to give away on my blog. So now I need to ask you a question, Would you like to have your own JOY banner? I hope you said yes, because I will be giving away the pre-cut pieces to one lucky person, so that they can make their own JOY banner for the holiday season.

To enter this random drawing all you need to do is leave a comment on this post by Noon on Friday (12/5)! The winner will be posted on my blog and she will receive all of the pieces to make/assemble a JOY banner.

~ Georgia

FYI - This blog candy is open to everyone, including my demo friends!!! If a demostrator wins the original drawing I will be drawing again, so that a customer will also win the JOY banner BLOG Candy. Don't forget to leave me a comment. . that's the only way to win! Good Luck!

Pick a Petal . . . Part 2

Hello Stampers and Happy Monday!!!

Today's post is going to be quick. . . as I said it's Monday. I have another sample to share with you using the stamp set Pick a Petal. Again it kinda thinks outside the box a bit.

Who would have thought to make a mouse from the flower petal? Not me, so I'm so glad a demonstrator in my group brought this sample to share. I'm sorry I don't have a name to go with the sample. It was one I found on my computer from a 2007 StampAttic's Bash. If you have any questions, please ask!

Happy Stamping!

Pick a Petal

I have been focusing a lot on Christmas, so I thought I would step back and show you a not so usual way to use the stamp set Pick a Petal. As I was going through some old photos I had on my computer I came across one I just knew I had to share with you. I'm sorry I don't have a name to go with the card, but below you'll find the sample.

Isn't this card just too cute? It uses four stamps from the Pick a Petal (109445 $27.95) stamp set as well as one from Sincere Salutations (105156 $20.95). The colors are Whisper White, Basic Black and Basic Grey. If you look really close at the bottom of the eyes you will see a little crystal effects.
Thanks for stopping today, and make sure to check back tomorrow.

Hello Stampers,

Did you get a lot of your shopping done yesterday? I did a little bit to much shopping, but it was lots of fun. Good news . . . I didn't hit anyone with my cart this year, but my husband did get hit by some lady who couldn't see over her cart. Glad it wasn't me being hit or doing the hitting this year. :o)

Today's sample comes from the Stampin' Up! website. Stampin' Up! has a gallery of cards for us demos to view and get inspired from. I love how the stamper turned the vanilla hodgepodge hardware. I usually only think of putting it horizontal. All of the details are below.

Enjoy!

Happy Black FRIDAY!!!

As you read this I am hitting the stores in a mad dash to get all of the items on my list. Rocky and I like to tag team Black Friday and we are so excited that Galesburg has a Menards! We love to hit that store for early bird sales and now we don't have to rush to the QCA for it!

As you rush out for Black Friday I want you to consider stamping some of your gifts this year. There are so many neat things you can do with stamps and a little bit of ink. Today's sample are Tile Coasters! I gave coasters as Christmas gifts a few years ago. They are very fun and easy to create!

This first coaster was done with the stamp set Embrace life.

Wondering how to do it? Keep reading for all of the details!

First you want to get a tile and wash it. I purchased mine from Lowes. After it is dry you'll stamp with Stazon ink. You can color in with sharpies if you want, but I kinda like the plain look to the coasters. After the coasters are dry they are ready to go.

If you don't have Stazon ink you can also use Stampin' Up! craft pads. Once you stamp your image in the craft ink onto the coasters you'll want to bake it in the oven to make sure it is good and set. I baked mine at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Once cooled you need to seal the tile with a clear spray.

To finish off the coasters I applied felt pads to the bottom, so that they didn't scratch any surfaces.

If you have any questions, please call or e-mail me!

Happy Stampin!
